Teachers, coaches, and school staff who kept showing up for students after the fire deserve more than gratitude. Steps for Lahaina is raising funds to provide real, lasting financial relief.
Who Qualifies
These grants are exclusively for active or returning educators and coaches serving students in the Lahaina Town burn zone — at public and private schools alike.
- Full-time or part-time classroom teachers
- School administration and support staff
- Athletic coaches at Lahaina schools
- Staff at Lahainaluna, Lahaina Intermediate, Princess Nāhiʻenaʻena, Sacred Hearts, or other burn zone schools
- Educators who left but plan to return if housing assistance is provided

Direct Monthly Living Supplement
A monthly rent and cost-of-living stipend to help educators stay in or near Lahaina while the community rebuilds.
Rebuilding Deficit Bridge Grant
For homeowners whose insurance fell short of actual rebuild costs — bridging the gap so they can return to their own land.
Subsidized Home Purchase Mortgage
Up to 100% low-interest financing for renters and first-time buyers, keeping educators rooted in the community they serve.
